This award recognizes faulty who have made outstanding contributions to creating and sustaining a climate of inclusion and belonging in the FAS. Recipients have made meaningful and significant contributions to creating welcoming communities in and beyond their departments. Ruth has been recognized both for her work within the EPS department, as a past chair of the IDEA committee who in that capacity spearheaded several important DEI-related initiatives, and also for her work beyond EPS and Yale in the greater New Haven community. Ruth has done outstanding work over the past several years with a number of organizations and initiatives designed to engage young people (and their parents) in science, particularly those from under-served and under-represented communities. Her work has had a major impact in helping to make STEM fields more welcoming and inclusive, to bring new and diverse talent into STEM, and to raise awareness of STEM careers.
